Self Improvement Through Guided Meditation
We all wish to acquire self improvement skills so we may rid ourselves
of damaging habits, but often we lack the will and the specific skills to make a permanent change to our
life style. Sometimes it is because we have tried before and failed.
The purpose of this guided meditation is to assist you to improve your life.
YOU can be whatever YOU want to be - non-smoker, free from anger, relaxed, public speaker - the
list of self improvement skills is truly endless and only limited by your mind.
This technique relies on deep relaxation, which will put you into a receptive frame of mind to
help you absorb the suggestions.
If you feel uncomfortable about this, please show these
instructions to your personal physician for approval.
It would be helpful for these instructions to be printed and then recorded by yourself, or a
friend, so you can just play the tape whenever you wish. Speak clearly, slowly and evenly.
If you can also play some quiet music in the background it will help you to become centred.
Your Guided Meditation
Chose a time when you are unlikely to be disturbed.
And let's begin our self improvement journey...
Settle down into a position in which you are relaxed. Sitting or
lying without any tight clothing to hinder your breathing. Close your eyes. Breathe slowly and
deeply. Feel yourself relaxing. Let go. Let go.
Begin a mental trip through your body relaxing
any tensions wherever you find it. When you find tension - first tighten that part of your body
and then relax it. Follow this awareness into your head, your eyes, your nose, across your cheeks,
your mouth, your chin and your jaw. Down your neck and across your shoulders. Down from your
shoulders - relax down into your arms, into your hands and fingers.
Bring this awareness to your upper back and your lower back. Down to your legs, into
your knees, down into your ankles and your toes. Your whole body begins to relax. Breathe slowly
and evenly. Going deeper and deeper.
All tension has now gone from your body. You feel calm and completely relaxed.
If you hear sounds which disturb you - sounds which are not part of this program - you will
immediately be wide awake - ready to deal with any situation.
Going deeper and deeper. You are completely relaxed.
Now imagine that you are
standing at the top of a spiral staircase. You are barefooted and there is a beautiful, lush carpet
under your feet. You start to go down - counting slowly as you go. You feel the soft carpet under
your feet.
15 - going down, 14 - deeper and deeper, 13 - more and more relaxed, 12 - down, down,
11 - deeper and deeper, 10, down, down, 9, the staircase spirals down and down, 8, 7, 6 - deeper
and deeper 5 -you are more and more relaxed, 4 - down,down, 3, 2, 1 - deeper and
deeper.
You are now in a hallway, which has rooms leading off it. Choose a room and go through the
door - close the door. This is your room of healing and knowledge - anything that you tell
yourself in this room will happen. Sit in the large white armchair and relax. Deeper and deeper.
More and more relaxed. You now achieve whatever you want. You are now putting your life in
order and preparing to accept all the good things that are coming to you. You can now release
your entire past - it is complete and you are free. The past has no power over you. You release
all negative beliefs.
You forgive everyone in your life. You let go of all
accumulated guilt, fears, resentments, grudges and disappointments - you are free. All negative
self-images are dissolved - you love your life. Give thanks for all you have and the good things
you will receive. You love and accept yourself exactly as you are. You remember that the point
of power is always in the present moment.
You let go of all tension, fear, anger, and guilt. You release all sadness and
limitations. You are at peace with yourself and safe. You deserve the best and
expect it. Today is the best day of your life. You are willing to change. You have the talent to
succeed. You are willing to be happy and successful. All these things are yours.
Here insert your auto-suggestions for self improvement - for example -
(You no longer smoke. You are a non-smoker. You are always calm and controlled. Nothing disturbs
you anymore. )
These old behaviour patterns are dissolved. The past is gone and you are free. You are successful
in everything you do. You are completely relaxed. Everything you tell yourself in this room will
come true for you.
In a few moments you will count yourself up from your relaxation. You will be rested. In a few
moments you will open your eyes. You will be wide-awake and fully alert - ready
to face the world. Count yourself up - 1, 2, 3 - eyes open, wide-awake.
Repeat this self improvement meditation each day and once you have resolved a particular problem use the same
technique but remember to change your suggestions.
It is also a good plan to carry out waking suggestions regularly. You could for example
make your auto-suggestion each time you look at your watch. Close your eyes, count to three ,
impress the suggestion on your mind, open your eyes and carry on with what you were doing.
Remember that any self improvement technique takes a little time.
If you follow these instructions with a positive belief in your mind then SUCCESS will be yours!
